We have been writing this blog so long that it was finally time to tackle a round up of just Phoenix. However, Phoenix is so large that one round up post would be gigantic! So, we are separating it into three easy sections:
Hopefully this will help you navigate fun things with your families. These areas seem to have the biggest pockets of activities together.
So, without further ado, here is our list of fun things to do in North Phoenix
Located in North Phoenix, but also in a sub-area called “Anthem” , This huge park has a train, splash playground, pond and Veterans Memorial. This Park also holds a lot of community celebrations throughout the year as well as carnivals and festivals.
This museum is different than a usually museum of an assemblage of items. Instead of one building, it is many buildings on fields in North Phoenix close to Anthem. There are many different buildings from an assortment of time periods that you can look in on. From early pioneers from the 18th century to the turn of the 19th century, The Pioneer Living History Museum is set up like a small town. Along with special events, this area is also known for its field trips and holding weddings. On site is also the Telephone History Museum.
Cashman Park in Phoenix has a lot of great greenspace for bigger kids, volleyball courts, a basketball court, ramadas and a trail. For younger kids, it has a lovely shaded playground, rope climber, spinny chairs and lots of different things to climb! There was also a separate toddler playground as well.
If you have a family member who loves playing music, listening to music or anything that has everything to do with music, the Musical Instrument Museum in North Phoenix is a place you need to visit. With thousands of different types of instruments from all around the world, this museum is wonderful for young and old. There is also the technology for you to listen to one thing and a guest to hear something completely different. Along with seeing instruments, there are opportunities to play instruments as well. Classes, workshops and more are available.
Paradise Cove park has a large playground for big kids with slides and obstacles on a mix of sand and rubber surface. There are tons of great climbing obstacles, monkey bars and a great tot lot!
Deem Hills Recreation Park in North Phoenix has lots of great features for families. Soccer Fields, Grassy areas, large parking areas, ramadas, large playground, trails for hiking, and a large hill for rolling down! Weekends can be busy for tournaments, but you will find lots of fun at this Recreation Park in Phoenix.
Located off i-17, Illumination Symphony of Light usually runs right before Thanksgiving until the end of the year. Millions of lights that go along with synchronized music while drivers go through tunnels and other features. This light show is a yearly spectacular and ends at a small festival (Holiday Boulevard) at the end.
If you have ever wondered what happens to your trash after it gets picked up, this is a place you might want to check out. You can take tours and not get stinky doing it. I found it really interesting and your kids might find it interesting as well.
Blippi loves Party Jungle, and you will too! Check out Party Jungle for birthday parties, special occasions and just inside fun. Party Jungle has a playscape, indoor rides, and small kid sized laser tag. This place is perfect for younger kids. There are also small arcade games too.
Paradise Valley Park has a huge, gigantic area for kids to run, play and explore. There were vehicle riders, swings, and plenty of climbers for kids to run and play on. Nearby was the dog park, community enter and pool.
Whipples Fun Center in Phoenix has lots of fun indoor play places for kids who are middle to upper elementary and middle school. There are bumper cars, laser tag, trampolines, a climber and arcade games. Whipples has a great cafe and places for parents to hang out and relax while kids are playing.
If you are looking for a meal with a view, look no further than Deer Valley Airport Restaurant. If you have a little tyke that doesn’t like sitting still for a meal-the view of planes taking off and landing might just get them excited to hang out for a meal at this restaurant. There is also outdoor seating available too! Deer Valley Airport also has special events during the year, so make sure you check out their Facebook page, especially for their Santa Fly in!
Desert Ridge Splashpad has a great area for kids to play while moms relax. There are lots of great places to grab food, a coffee or something to eat while kids play. Shopping and movies are also available right near the splashpad, so bring a change of clothes!
Ready, Set, Play at the Paradise Valley Mall is perfect for those who need an outing for their tot, crawling baby or young preschooler. This indoor place has lots of soft toys and fun things to do.
Kids Empire in Phoenix is one of the newest indoor play areas in Phoenix (2019). With levels upon levels of climbing, tons of slides and fun obstacles throughout. Kids Empire also has riding cars for kids to race. There are ample places for parents to sit and watch or they can climb in and participate. A separate toddler area is available as well. There is even a “dance area” for kids who want to strut their stuff under flashing lights.
