If you have ever wondered about the person making your coffee, and if they are happy to be making your coffee, then you need to come to Spencer’s Place in Surprise.
Started by a mom that that had a child with Down Syndrome Karin York believed that she needed to open a place that would serve the community. She saw that after high school, there was little community support for adults with special needs. Spencer’s Place has been Karin’s calling-named after her son.
Personally, this is truly touching to me. I had one very good friend growing up that had Down Syndrome- My friend Elaine died at 14 of heart failure. Elaine would have loved the coffee shop and serving customers. I can see her overlooking Spencer’s and enjoying people having fun.
Located in Basha’s Parking lot at Waddell and Reems in Surprise, Spencer’s Place is in the back corner next to Sanity Spa. There is no drive through, but plenty of space inside and outside for seating. There is also a great greenspace across the way for enjoying the outside on a lovely day.
Spencer’s Place, of course, has tons of coffee options-both hot and iced. Along with coffee, there are also non caffeine tea options, Hot Cocoa, baked goods and more! Coming soon, salads and more! They also carry gluten free items as well.
Here is one of the cute seating areas. There is also a great plug for your computers. There were also a lot of tables and chairs on the other side of the room (super busy!)
Also, there is a great meeting room for private conversations, and it’s great for hanging out with friends (like Macaroni Kid Kelly!).
If you are looking for a pick me up that is not only good for energy, but also good for the soul, check out Spencer’s Place Monday-Saturday 8am-4pm. Make sure you sign up for their loyalty card at check out too!
