Rio Vista Splashpad

We took an opportunity to take pictures on a night where there was no one splashing, because it was so windy and cold. But, I think we were able to get some beautiful pictures.

Rio Vista Splashpad is right next to the community center (It is gorgeous)  and the Rio Vista Park. The splash pad at this park is small, but it is fenced, which has it’s benefits. Unfortunately, it is also right next to the community lake, which wee ones could easily climb over the fence at the splash pad and into the lake if they are motivated monkey climbers like my kids.

The area is very well kept, and you can see there are shades and gates surrounding and inside of the splash pad. However, there is not a lot of seating, nor is there a lot of shade for the onlookers. So, mom and dad, you might get wet when you bring your wee one to this splash pad.

Also important to note is the bathrooms are pretty far from the splashpad. You do have to go through the awesome picnic area where there are tons of BBQs and through the sandy playground to get to the bathrooms. The parking lot area that is right in front of the splashpad is rather small, but there is ample parking a little bit further, however, you do have to cross the road that runs through the park

Two gates surround the splash pad. Please make sure you securely close the gate when going in and out!

Shades, seating and a turtle (the middle is where it drains and it is graded to drain, however the night we went it was so windy! Ground is softer as well, yay!

Two little froggy guns to squirt at each other!

Sprays from above!

Water also squirts from the ground. You can see the shaded areas on the west and south east part of the splash pad, as well as the BBQ ramadas in the background. The bathrooms are past all of those!

To turn on the water, you use this touch button and rub/press and say a little prayer!

Beautiful water sprays right near sunset! The shaded areas are very close to the water, and if the wind is blowing in the least, you will get wet if you are sitting there! This park definitely has the plus of being gated, but the bathrooms being so far, the lake being easily accessible for my climbing monkeys and the shade situation makes this splash pad have its pluses and minuses duking it out. It is a very popular splash pad, and you will find it very busy in the summer!

[…] Speaking of Gated Splash Pads, Rio Vista in Peoria also tops on our list for the gated factor. While it is a smaller splash pad, it is good for the […]

[…] Beautiful Ramada area with Grills, and lots of trash cans. They want to make sure that you don’t litter! These ramadas are very similar to Rio Vista. […]
