Red Mountain Park Mesa
Since we were checking out the Superstition Springs Center, we decided to also check out a park since we were on the East Side. Red Mountain Park is a Huge park, in a somewhat industrial area but near a school. It wasn’t quite in a neighborhood, but wasn’t in a busy area either.
If you are looknig for the playgrounds, the easiest access is to go to Brown Rd to Sunvalley Blvd to N Red Mountain Park and park in the lots off of there. I’m guessing on weekends this parking lot fills up very quickly, but there are other parking lots near the soccer complex off of Sunvalley Blvd. And N Red Mountain Park Rd off of E Brown Road as well.
Let’s get to the fun part of what this park has to offer!
A huge lake with lots of Geese and ducks! Be careful with your little wobbly ones as some of the drop offs near the big playground are steep!
There are lots of ramadas and walking trails along the lake as well. You’ll see the day we went was pretty cloudy and overcast, and the grass was not overseeded, but there were lots of “green” areas.
As you can see, its a pretty far walk to one of the playgrounds from the parking lot. The playground nearest the lake was for older children.
- The “Spin Master” One big spinning wheel with multiple spinners on top
- The web!
- Giggles taking on the spin master
I made up the names for these parts, as I have no idea how else to describe them. I’m pretty sure the big plate the white spinners were on did spin, but it was hard to do. I think it would be fun to watch but not participate in!
A volleyball court was closer to the parking lot. There was also a huge ramada with picnic benches that could easily seat 100 people.
The children’s playground was conveniently located nearest the parking lot I encouraged you to use above. There were lots of slides, climbers, swings and these two huge “disks” to swing on.
I don’t think Munchie does this swing justice on how big it actually was. There are two of these “disks”, and they reminded me of the ones I used to take sledding as a kid.
The slides! You can’t go wrong with all these slides, and under a shade!
Two baby swings.
Two rockers-and Dimples had a blast on these.
There are also bathrooms at the park as well as many ramadas, soccer fields, a disc course and a basketball court!
This is a fun park to check out if you are on the East side or you are having a big get together! Lots of shade available for those playing or those watching.
