Permanently closed 2020 due to the Pandemic
I have been looking on the internet for a few ideas of places people take their children to in the hot months, and found out about “Playgrounds Fun Zone“. The “grounds” is a play on words, as they have a FULL coffee shop for adults (well, you could give your child coffee, but I wouldn’t advise it).
As I’m still trying to get my bearings around this area, I put on my Google map GPS on my phone to lead the way. Unfortunately, Google maps decided I was at Playgrounds Fun Zone when I was in the middle of the intersection. As this wasn’t the best place for my kids to play, we drove around a bit before we actually found it.
Playgrounds Fun Zone is on West Union Hills Drive, but it is in a strip of shops behind another strip of shops. If you are headed from the 101, pass 81st ave and look towards your right for “Edward Jones” and into the plaza. This entrance to the plaza has a light so it makes it a bit easier to find. You will pass the strip for Edward Jones, another strip of shops, and then you will find Playgrounds Fun Zone.
The Entrance features a full cafe menu with great coffees and food (and very reasonable prices!). Yum Yum. They had a parent in mind when they designed this area. The colors are welcoming and comfortable, but still fun and inviting for the kids. And, the best bonus of all, they open at 8am! Super exciting and convenient for those hot summer days (and for early risers!)
The entrance to the play area is just off to the left of this. I thought I captured a picture of it, but unfortunately I did not. Luckily, they have gates to either side of the desk so that the little ones cannot run out of the play zone unattended.
There is even access to the cafe from the play zone side, so you can keep your kiddos in check while you grab something for them (or you) to eat and drink. And lots of comfortable couches and even magazines to read!
I even climbed up in here to get giggles at one point. She was a bit hesitant to be going up by herself so I joined her. I got a few odd looks from the kids, but the staff encourages it (as long as you have just socks on!).
There were a few cozy coupes floating around, and they were a hot commodity! Giggles found a few friends to push around in them. Munchie trued to get all of the kiddos to play rescue bots with him.
I also caught a good picture of Giggles ” behind bars”.
Giggles found the toddler area much more suited to her liking.
There was also a ton of picnic tables to sit at and a place to stow your shoes out of the way (however I didn’t notice this until after we had been playing for a while!).
This place was really great, and reminded me a lot of a favorite place in Connecticut that we would frequent. I watched the video the owner has posted on the news tab of Playgrounds Fun Zone that he started this up to spend more time with his family. That, of course, melts my heart!
Playgrounds Fun Zone definitely has the whole family in mind with their set up, and that made the trip even more enjoyable. From open play to the availability of having birthday parties (even private parties), they have it all. I can’t wait to pull hubby in for the excitement next time we visit.
