Phoenix Public Library
The Phoenix Public Library had a special “super hero” day, so I decided to check it out with my kiddos and check out the Children’s area as well. There are 17, yes 17 branches! We went to the main library, which is the Burton Barr Central Library on Central Ave.
To get into the parking lot of the library, you will want to enter off of E. Willetta Street.
There is covered parking as well, and even “car pool” parking.
There is a front entrance to the Library from the front (Central Ave) and one from the back, which is closer to the parking lot.
There is a book store in the library (we didn’t go in) as well as an area for art. You will go down a ramp to the main library entrance where there is a security/information desk.
Friends of the Library Book Store (there was quite a reflection on their display of Superheroes)
When you get into the library, there is a huge water feature around the elevators and stairs. There are ropes going across, but still little ones can easily get under that and into the water if they were determined. Be careful of your keys, wallet and phone if your little one holds onto them!
The children’s section is on the first floor, and it is HUGE! There are tons of different things that children can play with as well!
A collection of different types of games.
Lots of picture books and a place to stick letters on.
An area to play with wooden blocks (lots of different shapes!)
A Patio area outside of the children’s section. I would think they might have story time out here or do other projects. It does have a fire alarm attached to the door so we did not go out the day we visited.
There was also a puppet theater (dramatic play) center! And don’t forget, lots and lots and lots of books!
There were also bathrooms tucked into the corner. And across from the men’s and women’s bathroom in this small corridor was a wonderful “family” bathroom that we all easily fit into!
We went to see “Superheroes” on the fourth floor. I went the wrong way onto the fourth floor but found myself in the beautiful Teen area.
The kids had a GREAT time meeting with the superheroes. The superheroes were really caring and spoke with my kids at length and Munchie was super impressed.
The Phoenix Library has tons of Free Events, and its worth the drive!
