Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel in California is conveniently located on Route 50 (Lake Tahoe Boulevard) In south Lake Tahoe.
The Resort is right on the Nevada/California border so it is close to shopping in Heavenly, Lakeside Beach and the Casinos in Nevada.
Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel was previously an Embassy Suites hotel, and all rooms are Suites. We stayed in a room that had a pull out couch, and a bedroom with two queen beds. There are also rooms that have on King bed.
A restaurant (Echo) is located on the main floor and has great food. We had a few lunches and dinners to go from Echo. There was also outside dining available. The Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel did not have a gift shop or snack shop at the time of our visit as it was being renovated.
The main floor had a staircase up to the second floor (where breakfast and happy hours are located). There was plenty of comfortable seating. Bring some checkers pieces for a game of checkers or chess!
On the first floor there was also a koi and turtle pond. The kids loved watching the turtles sun themselves and the Koi swim around. Unfortunately, we were never present for the Koi feeding. Four elevators brought you up to any of the 9 floors in Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel.
As for transportation, there is limited public transportation and any cars of guests at the hotel either need to be parked at city parking or by the valet service at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. The Valet Service is $25 per day per car.
Breakfast was also included complimentary, but you could add on a $5 per omelette charge if you were interested in having that for breakfast. The breakfast was served from 7am-10am on the second floor next to the pool area. The breakfast was standard buffet faire, and repeated daily with little variety. English Muffins, bagels, bread, Citrus fruit and melon, yogurt, eggs, pancakes (or french toast), sausage and bacon were served every morning. Tea, Coffee, juices and sodas were also available. We attended one of Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel’s Happy Hours which was located in the same location as the breakfast. Chips and soda were free with alcoholic beverages at an additional cost. Beer, wine and mixed drinks were available during the happy hour.
Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel also had two different rental car options on site, as well an indoor pool/hot tub and small fitness center.
The pool went down to 6 feet and was a minimum of 3 1/2 feet, which was a good height for our kiddos. There was also a hot tub, but children shouldn’t be in a hot tub for longer than 5 minutes, so we pretty much kept them out of the hot tub. Access to the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel’s fitness room was also through the pool.
The staff at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel was very friendly and kind. Rooms were attended to quickly and service to the room (extra bedding/pillows) were provided in a timely manner. The pillows weren’t my favorite, but I made it work with a few extra pillows. The room was a good size for five people, with a fold out couch, twin cot, dining table, television in the living room, sink, small refridgerator and microwave. The master bedroom with closet, sink, TV, two beds was comfortable enough for us. The master bedroom had a window facing the outside, and the living room faced the inside of the hotel.
There were many different sized conference rooms as well. You can see the indoor walkways that faced towards the inside of the hotel with the doors and windows facing in.
If you are planning to stay at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, I highly suggest requesting a room on the 3rd floor or above. The 2nd floor rooms all face the area where breakfast is served. There is one room that is next to the pool, which can possibly get loud.
Each floor had an ice machine and vending machines.
I think the best thing about this hotel was the location for our family. Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel is located right at the border of California and Nevada, which provided us easy access to Lakeside Beach, Minden, Heavenly Resort Area, Nevada Beach, the Casinos and many restaurants. There were many times we spent the whole day without getting into our car, which was great since the wait for the valet service can be up to 30 minutes during busy times.
