The Glendale Heroes Library Branch evaded me for a while. I have seen the library being built, and then knew it was finished and tried to visit it many times, but it was always closed!
Their hours are a bit…difficult, even in the summer. I do wish there is a little more consistency for us moms who forget what day it is. (2019)
Monday: 12 – 8 p.m.
Tuesday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Wednesday: 12 – 8 p.m.
Thursday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Friday: 1 – 5 p.m.
Saturday: 12 – 5 p.m.
The library is gorgeous, so if you remember what day it is and can check the schedule before you go, I highly suggest checking it out. Holidays they are closed, so make sure you also don’t go on a holiday!
The library is located at 6075 N 83rd Ave and shares an entrance with Glendale Heroes Regional Park, but has its own separate parking lot that is expansive. The grounds are beautiful outside. There are also outdoor areas that are part of the library so there is a possibility for outdoor reading while still being in the library.
A small children’s nook, play area and outside area was available. About 1/3 of the library was dedicated to children’s books. The outdoor areas was fenced in, partial grass and partial cement. I’m not sure what things they might have outside, but it looks like there are some opportunities!
There was a two stair little hideaway nook for kids to curl up in, and a family bathroom in the kids area. There are also bathrooms in the main part of the library as well.
The library is all one room, but it is a nice space. There are some tables in the center of the library as well as computers.
I thought this was a cute way to have tablets for kids to use. I didn’t use them, but an interesting way for them not to get broken or lost.
A whimsical fish mural with nooks. I’m not sure what the little nooks were for! But, there were also computers for children too.
The Teen area at Glendale Heroes Library Branch has a small outdoor area as well and all of their books, and some computers as well. There are no big community rooms at the Glendale Heroes Library Branch, but some study rooms. Make sure you check out the beautiful floor, however!
Outdoor area. Partially for teens and partially for adults, I believe?
This is a gorgeous library and could get a lot of use if the hours were a little more open for families.
