We received complimentary passes for our show. All opinions are 100% my own.
I had never been to a Disney on Ice show before, and neither had my littles. We decided to only bring Giggles and Munchie (almost four and 6 1/2) but not Dimples (almost 3) since he doesn’t sit very well!
Talking Stick Resort Arena is right in the thick of things in Phoenix. But, to add a little confusion, the actual Talking Stick Resort is in Scottsdale. A few steps away from the Arena Chase field and lots of other food and entertainment. We had actually parked across from Talking Stick Arena when we went to CitySkate.
Speaking of Parking, there is a garage connected to the Arena, a parking lot next to the Arena (across 1st) and parking across Jefferson St to the north. All cost $10 per car, but that could change on the event! I wanted the garage because I thought it was going to rain.
The garage parking is like any garage parking-tight! If you have a bigger car, you will have a tight fit! Just be warned!
The Arena itself was gorgeous from the outside. There were lots of vendors before and after selling things, but they didn’t harass anyone. You will have to go through a metal detector to get into the arena as well. The staff was courteous, but expect to get your pocketbook searched too. I also highly suggest bringing sweatshirts for the kids as it does get cold in the arena (ice ice baby!)
We grabbed our tickets and got them scanned and looked for our section. Everything is very well marked. Bathrooms had ample place for changing children and were clean with attendants that kept stopping to check. The food…well, that was expensive! So, be prepared to raid your children’s college funds to get them food. hahaa. It’s the same as the Suns’ Games (6.50 for a 20oz bottle of water..eeeh). The food wasn’t horribly priced-we got both of the kids Wetzel’s pretzels for 5.00 each. Just the water seemed a bit..much!
The show was really great! My kids were at the edge of their seat or off their seats clapping, dancing and laughing!
There were some familiar characters.
And yes, princesses too (more towards the end of the show!) Alice and wonderland, Peter pan, Snow White and Buzz, Jessie and Woody who started the show and so many more.
My kids really had a blast at the show, and I would recommend it for any Disney fans. The masks were a bit creepy to me, but my kids weren’t worried about it at all. The skating talent was awesome, and there was humor too.
Getting out of the parking garage at the end of the show was a bit tedious. It took us about 30 minutes from getting to the car to getting onto Jefferson. I would be prepared to use the bathroom before you leave the arena (a lot of other parents had the same idea). I would also recommend using the stairs in the garage, if you can, instead of using the elevator. I only saw one elevator and it was quite a wait to get on it. We carried our kids up and down the stairs because they were kind of tired.
