The Chandler Downtown Public Library is a huge library in the city’s Civic Center area.
Located at 22 S Delaware Street, this library has a great greenspace around it as well as the police department, parks and recreation buildings and lots of meeting rooms inside. The parking at the library is kind of difficult as there is limited parking in the parking lot that is shaded. However, there is a large garage (free as of 2018) that is nearby. The parking lot is south of the library off of Delaware Street, and the parking garage is accessible from Boston Street. The parking garage is also used for nearby businesses and some of the parking spaces are signed.
The Chandler Civic Center has quite a bit of different services located right near the library, such as the community center, senior center, development services, fire department, police and courts.
If you have a smaller child, you may want to plan on bringing a stroller or carrier to bring them from the parking areas to the library.
The downstairs area of the library is the adult section, as well as a small gift shop at the entry and cafe, as well as a great spot to meet others and use computers, phones or wifi. There are many meeting rooms and study rooms, as well as community rooms. We saw a huge room on the second story for kids programs and many different smaller meeting rooms.

So many books and stacks! The children’s library was equally impressive upstairs, however, there weren’t any toys to play with. There was a small room where they had a few tables and crayons and one sad small kitchen, but that was it.
The area was nicely themed, it was just a bummer there wasn’t more in there!
The children’s section of the Chandler Downtown Public library had tons, and tons, and tons of books. Lots of board books I saw as well as stacks of books. Since we were just waiting for Munchie to finish his Code Ninja Camp, we stayed at this library for an hour and a half and read many books!
There were many computers to sign into, but not many child-friendly computers at this library.
While there were a ton of great things about this library-lots of spaces, meeting rooms and cool features like a two-story sun. I also loved the huge upstairs space for the kids room. I just was a little saddened by the lack of shareable toys or manipulatives available. The entrance opens to the greenspace in front (to the northeast) of the library, so no matter where you park, it is a bit of a walk to get into the library. It is definitely a library that a stroller may be needed for little ones!
My kids love looking at all the library signs. Tons and tons of books at the Chandler Downtown Public Library!
